Fanny and Johnnie's Kitchen
Fanny & Johnnie’s kitchen sits within a much-loved early 1970s home that has been carefully lived in rather than remodelled beyond recognition. The space retains its original character, with layers built up over decades rather than curated or recreated.
Douglas Fir plywood has been used for the doors and drawer fronts, chosen for its warmth and the way it will gently deepen and honey with age. Over time, it will sit ever more comfortably alongside the home’s original features, including the distinctive spiral staircase. Work surfaces have been selected with practicality in mind: Caesarstone quartz around the sink area for ease of maintenance, and solid Douglas Fir elsewhere to maintain continuity of material.
The room is filled with objects that belong — well-used crockery, much-loved books and familiar details that reflect the owners’ long relationship with the house. The yellow linoleum flooring anchors the space firmly in its era and brings a quiet confidence to the overall scheme.
A kitchen that respects its setting, embraces age and patina, and feels entirely true to the home it belongs to.
