Birkwood does everything right. It’s a small family run company and the care and commitment of this husband and wife team shines through. Efficient, friendly and supportive customer service thanks to Alison, and superb design and workmanship thanks to Mark and his team in the workshop. They have just completed my second commission from them in less than 18 months; yes, they are that good! I cannot recommend them highly enough. Needless to say, I am thrilled with my second Birkwood project. I shall continue to sing your praises to anybody prepared to listen to me. You have made this whole thing so seamless and easy, and I love the fact that I can rely on you not only to turn up when you say you will, but that you’ll do a beautiful job when you get here!

Dear Mark, Alison and the Birkwood Team – I wanted to thank you all for your hard work, interest and understanding in outing together my lovely kitchen. I’m grateful not only for your craftsmanship but also your patience in my numerous requests for colour samples. I spent yesterday afternoon making marmalade, it was a pleasure to have so much space and room to manoeuvre!

Birkwood designed a kitchen for us that is both beautiful and practical. It is a joy to live in and a pleasure to use: the perfect synthesis of form and function. Truly, this is the dream kitchen that we imagined and Birkwood made a reality. We chose plywood for its modern feel and clean lines; with the added splashes of colour it is the perfect complement to an older building. My favourite part is the larder, which makes brilliant use of the space and is so much handier and accessible than shelves and drawers. The craftsmanship and attention to detail are clear throughout and its usability is second to none. Throughout the process, Alison and Mark were a true pleasure to work with, offering support, advice and ideas the whole way through, making the whole experience a smooth and thoroughly enjoyable one. I cannot recommend Birkwood highly enough - they can transform your kitchen into something even better than you imagined.

When we moved to our traditional bungalow in Scotland two and a half years ago, it was with the intention of making it lighter, brighter, more interesting and to our taste - to make it into a home for us and for our family when they visit. Everything you have made for us at Birkwood has been a big part of this and we are so pleased with how it all looks and works so well. It has been a pleasure to use our great kitchen. My least favourite task is unpacking the supermarket shopping, but it is actually enjoyable when putting things away in the cupboards you have made. I also like the fact that the cupboards open in different ways - sliding, lifting, pulling out ... So it’s just a big thank you to Mark and all the team.

I wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted when looking for a new kitchen - then I discovered Birkwood. Thanks to Mark and team I now have my perfect kitchen, including an island on wheels! The design and quality are so much better than I expected. I love it!

Working with Birkwood was a brilliant. From my first speculative trip to the final fit out the enthusiasm, warmth and creativity was non stop. Alison and Mark (and their incredible team) really helped us think through what we wanted, what we needed and more importantly what our customers would respond to. Every part of the process was a breeze. Nothing was too much trouble. Mark came up with an innovative storage solution for our fold down spare bed idea and everything fitted like a glove. Installation was smooth and on time and it was a pleasure having the Birkwood team in the house. We love the whole exposed edge, laminated birch ply look and we will be back for more...a kitchen next time maybe.

Hi Alison and Mark, we just wanted to say thanks for the wonderful furniture. The whole process from beginning to end has been a joy and from first contact to your workshop visit and fittings we have really enjoyed it. With your furniture in all the open plan areas of our house it is an integral part of our living environment and we enjoy it every day. The team at Birkwood delivered a broad range of exceptional furniture and fittings for one of our high-end private homes in 2018. This included a magnificent oak kitchen, walnut-lined study, dressing room and snug, as well as smaller bespoke fittings such as firewood boxes and boot room cupboards. All the furniture was crafted with the utmost care, being faithful to our designs in the context of an ambitious contemporary building. Mark, Alison and their team were a pleasure to work with throughout, and we look forward to collaborating again in the future.

We knew we wanted a kitchen that would be timeless in design, practical and of excellent build quality. Our kitchen extension blended old with new with the inevitable non standard sizes and we didn’t think it would be possible to achieve all we hoped for particularly as we wanted to use local companies wherever possible during our extension project. We had passed the Birkwood factory often as we drove along the A9 and my goodness we are so glad I decided one day to find out what they did! From our first contact we were impressed and our whole experience from the initial design phase through construction, installation and aftercare has been second to none with everyone in the Birkwood team contributing to giving us such a wonderful space to spend time. After a spell of enjoying much admiration of our lovely hand painted kitchen from all who visited we had no hesitation in going back for more of the ‘Birkwood experience’ commissioning laminate birch plywood units for our utility room – once again we are delighted with the result. When it came to planning the kitchen for our build project, our architect strongly recommended that we take a look at Birkwood’s work. We are so pleased that we took his advice. We approached Mark with a very rough, woolly idea for what we wanted in our kitchen. He was able to take my vague instructions and look round the existing space and come up with a plan that was way beyond expectations. We wanted an authentic and honest kitchen that would be beautiful, solid and timeless. We needed something that could take the inevitable knocks of daily life, that wasn’t pretending to be something it’s not, and that would look fantastic. This was surprisingly difficult to find until we discovered Mark and Alison at Birkwood. Rather than trying to squeeze us into a pigeonhole of "what’s popular" now, they patiently listened to what we actually wanted, including our dithering over details, came up with a plan and delivered on it. The quality of the workmanship and materials is brilliant and the kitchen still looks brand new. It’s our favourite place in the house, a great place to cook, eat and hang out.

Just a quick note to say that we are super-impressed by our lovely new kitchen - it really is looking fantastic! The quality of the finish is amazing and the design has translated into 'real life' beautifully. All in all it really has surpassed our expectations.
