Leigh and Ali's Kitchen

Leigh & Ali’s kitchen sits within a contemporary new-build home in the fertile Angus countryside, where expansive views and natural light shape the atmosphere of the space.

The material palette balances solidity with warmth. Concrete flooring grounds the room with a robust, architectural feel, while birch plywood cabinetry introduces softness and texture. In this project, doors and drawer fronts are set over the face of the plywood carcasses, creating a slightly different expression — cleaner-lined, more defined, yet still rooted in the honesty of the material.

The layout has been designed to feel open and easy, allowing the surrounding landscape to remain part of the experience of the room. Storage is generous and thoughtfully resolved, ensuring practicality without visual heaviness.

A confident rural kitchen that pairs contemporary structure with the natural warmth of plywood — robust underfoot, tactile at hand, and built to sit comfortably within its countryside setting.
